Here is an excerpt: "We love living small. We love living sustainably. We love telling others how to do it for themselves. So…we are hitting the road to spread the love! Beginning in the Fall of 2007, we are traveling the U.S. in an RV powered by straight vegetable oil. Yes! Grease! It’s free, baby. We are also remodeling the inside of the RV with sustainable, earth friendly materials. This blog will detail our journey…the people, the places, the adventures."

We had our first workshop (impromptu) on Saturday August 25. James, Paula, Reanna and myself were riding around when we saw an apartment complex with several piles of bikes. We talked to some of the people who live there and were told that they were mostly broken. It came naturally to all of us that this would be our first bike clinic. Two days later, we spent 3 hours fixing up every bike that came our way. It ended up being about 30, I think. Thanks to everybody who helped.

We have completed the schedule of workshops in the city of Roanoke. see list

We have scheduled 4 bike repair workshops for different locations within the city of Roanoke.  These locations will be in different quadrants of the city, and hopefully, there will be more workshops in Roanoke County in the near future. The City of Roanoke has suggested helping us with marketing as well as publishing future workshops in the "Play" quarterly magazine.

We look forward to working with the City of Roanoke in the future works of Sharebike.

We are offering bikes in exchange for volunteer hours to those interested. We have already worked a couple of trades and think this will be a good bartering system that works for a lot of people.

Posted April 28:

We plan to release 10 bikes into the city of Roanoke by the end of May. We already have the bikes, but still are looking for a place to put them. A date will be announced later.

Posted April 15:

Share bike has a temporary storage area/workshop thanks to Gary McCorkle. He has allowed Sharebike to use his large basement to store bikes and recycle bikes. This is an important first step to get some bikes on the road.

I am currently working on finding a place to put our first shelter. I have some ideas, and will post all the locations as they come available.
